{Interviews} Just Add Glitter And Stir!

With the first installment of the “Interviews” section of the site, I am thankful that I can introduce you to Maggi!

This girl is absolute creativity epitomised!  Trust me when I say that you will want to follow her blog…you will love her so much that you wish she lived next door so you could head on over for a cup of coffee every morning!

She can create just about anything, I swear.  You will see from the photos that she must have whimsy and talent running through her bloodstream at all times.

And for the record?  I am pretty sure that anything she touches…well…turns to glitter.

Enjoy getting to know Maggi! I know you will love her just as much as I do!

What is your name:  Maggi

What is your website:  http://justaddglitterandstir.blogspot.com/

How can people contact you:  People can find me on Twitter (@addglitter), on my blog, Just Add Glitter and Stir, on Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/justaddglitter/ or on Ravelry under my username, JustAddGlitter

What do you do?  I’m a pretty crafty person and have tried a little bit of everything.  My current obsessions are crochet and mixed media.  Luckily I get to combine the two from time to time. lol  I also love to scrapbook and cross stitch.

How did you get started?:  Mixed media was something I discovered when I was scrapbooking a lot.  I like to use out of the ordinary elements on my layouts and altered objects and mixed media was a pretty easy crossover.  I’m now part owner of a mixed media supply store, Gauche Alchemy (www.gauchealchemy.com).  With crochet, when I was a kid a camp counselor taught me the double crochet stitch but I didn’t touch a hook again until late 1995 when I saw a friend crocheting.  Once again, I dropped the hook only to pick it back up in 2008 when I discovered amigurumi and have been a hooker ever since!

What is the best advice you could give someone who wants to start something new?  Just start!  The biggest fear I think people have is just starting something for the first time.  Don’t be afraid, don’t think about failing and don’t worry about the end result right now.  Just begin…get started…go for it!

Favorite Recipe:  This is a tough one!  My current favorite is a old family recipe from my husband’s grandparents called, “Oladyi” (oh-la-gee).  It’s a yeast kind of pancake served with garlic cloves. They made them every Christmas along with mushroom broth and pierogies.  We make them in our family now every Christmas too. 🙂

If you could have dinner with one person (in the past or present) who would it be and why?  Jane Austen – She seems like she would have been a fun, snarky person to hang out with.  I’d love to know what she thinks of our lives today!

What is one craft you wish you could master?  Knitting *sigh*  I just simply cannot sit down long enough to master it.  It’s a shame really because there are so many amazing vintage knitting patterns I would love to make!

Favorite blog or website you follow:  Oh wow, another hard one!  I am a blogging freak so I follow a lot of terrific blogs.  I’m really addicted to Ravelry and Pinterest.

Any last words?  I love creating things, it’s in my blood and something I just have to do on a daily basis.  I like to tell people: “Go glue something awesome onto some awesome something!”  😀   Thanks for having me on your blog!
